The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation awarded $21,500 to 14 local healthcare and social services organizations during their 2025 grant cycle.
One local healthcare organization, Day Kimball Hospital, was awarded a $1,000 grant towards their annual appeal.
The Foundation awarded 13 grants to local social services organizations, amounting to $20,500. Four recipients were awarded $2,500: EASTCONN Regional Educational Service Center, Inc. in Hampton to support the personal care distribution program for families enrolled in their Head Start and Early Head Start programs and who receive SNAP benefits; Westcott Wilcox Elderly Residential Housing, Inc. to update the facility’s kitchen fire suppression system and purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); Madonna Place, Inc. to support general operations by providing emergency food and services to economically disadvantaged people living in New London County; Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) in Jewett City to fund the Senior Nutrition Program which includes Meals on Wheels.
$2,000 was awarded to Access Agency, Inc. to help provide daily meals to emergency shelter residents in Danielson.
Five $1,000 grants were awarded to: Uncas Health District to expand the Tai Ji Quan-Moving for Better Balance senior exercise program; Griswold PRIDE to provide food and incentives for enhancing engagement and attendance at school and community events; The Covenant Shelter of New London, Inc. to assist residents and support the cost of the emergency housing facility; Martin House, Inc. in Norwich to support the food security program that feeds residents three meals daily; Quiet Corner Peer Support Group to assist with opening the wellness center in Dayville to provide services to help reduce PTSD symptoms of first responders.
$1,500 grants were awarded to Horizons, Inc. in South Windham to support the Making Many Hearts Happy Project that provides weekends in the country and summer camp for individuals with developmental disabilities, and Frank Olean Center, Inc. in Westerly to provide activities that promote socialization and communication skills for clients with intellectual disabilities.
Flying Free Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. in Woodstock received a $500 grant to fund healthcare for horses that are a part of the therapeutic riding program.

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, established by the Bank to strengthen and support the communities it serves, has awarded over $1,500,000 to local organizations since its first grants in 2004. This year, the Foundation awarded 80 grants totaling $136,672 to various community-focused organizations.
