The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation announced awards totaling $13,242 to seven local libraries, youth services, and education organizations during its most recent grant cycle.
The Northeast Connecticut Education Foundation received a $3,000 grant for Tackle the Trail, a fundraising event to support local students pursuing higher education.
The Slater Library in Jewett City received two grants: a $1,000 grant for annual support and a $950 grant to purchase sensory furniture for young special needs patrons. The Voluntown Public Library received a $500 grant to purchase materials for a lendable collection of memory kits for patrons living with dementia, and the Aldrich Free Public Library in Moosup received $2,292 to replace three computers with brand new desktop computers for use by patrons.
Griswold Middle School Parent Teacher Organization was awarded a $1,000 grant to support the purchase and installation of an industrial swing set at the Griswold Middle School playground.
$2,000 was awarded to Hale YMCA Youth & Family Center in Putnam to fund the Race4Chase youth triathlon program, and $2,500 was awarded to Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc. in Putnam to expand the Positive Youth Development program.
