President Michael Alberts announced that the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has donated a matching grant of $100,000 to the Town of Griswold. The funding will directly support the construction of a brand-new, family-friendly playground replacing the existing skate park on Hill Street in Jewett City.
The Foundation’s matching grant works side-by-side with local funds raised by the Griswold Parks and Recreation Department, effectively doubling the impact of community-raised dollars to make this major neighborhood enhancement possible.
“We are excited to see this project bring the community together, to provide a space for families and kids,” said Alberts. “At a time when community spaces are more important than ever, investing in our youth and public parks is a direct investment in the future of Griswold.”
Since its founding in 2004, the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, established by the Bank to strengthen and support the communities it serves, has donated over $1.5 million to support a wide range of local programs and services. In 2025, the Foundation awarded 80 grants totaling $136,672 to various community-focused organizations.
