The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has donated $20,000 to support MuralFest Putnam, a multi-day festival taking place in 2028.
“MuralFest Putnam could not be more grateful for the generous support from Jewett City Savings Bank (JCSB),” remarked MuralFest Putnam Sponsorship Chair Laura Crosetti. “The JCSB Foundation was among the first to provide seed money in the form of a $1,000 grant in 2025, helping us to raise awareness about this historic project. We thank JCSB Foundation President Michael Alberts and the Foundation’s Board of Directors for recognizing the extraordinary community impact this initiative will have and for strengthening our efforts with an additional $20,000 “Top Dog” sponsorship. This kind of leadership is inspiring other businesses and individuals to join in this epic public art initiative that will educate and inspire generations to come.”
Uniting muralists from across the world, the artists will come together to create a series of murals showcasing Putnam’s rich history. Putnam was selected to host the festival out of over 200 towns by The Walldog Public Art Movement, an internationally renowned organization of present-day sign and mural artists dedicated to elevating community pride.
The funds raised will be used for project expenses, including paints and other materials, artist accommodations, and festival programming. On top of serving as a project that will continuously engage with the community, MuralFest will also drive economic development and boost tourism within Putnam.
“We are excited to support a project that brings together community, art, and history,” said Michael Alberts, President. “It’s truly remarkable to create something that will meaningfully enhance Putnam’s historical narrative.”
