Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation awards $26,500 to Local Arts and Culture Organizations

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation announced awards totaling $26,500 to nine local arts and culture organizations during its most recent grant cycle.

“These organizations enrich our communities,” said Michael Alberts, President of the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation. “We are honored to be able to support them in their efforts to give vitality to the community and provide opportunities for new experiences.”

The Woodstock Agricultural Society was awarded $10,000 to support the entertainment at the Woodstock Fair Center Stage.

$2,000 grants were given to The Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut at the Bradley Playhouse in Putnam to help with show-related expenses and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra in New London to support season initiatives to ensure all community members can attend concerts.

Grants of $1,500 were awarded to Preston Parks, Recreation & Youth Services to start a farmer’s market in the town of Preston, and Putnam Cemetery Association to replace the large flagpole in the historic Civil War section of the cemetery.

$1,000 grants were awarded to The Woodstock Academy Foundation to benefit the Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut for annual support, and the Town of Putnam to support MuralFest, a public art collaboration.

Additionally, the Garde Arts Center in New London received a $2,500 grant to expand their Partners-Arts-Community-Education (PACE) Initiative, and Eastern Connecticut Performing Arts Association received a $5,000 grant for their summer Music Festival in Griswold.
