Promoting automatic savings to help people reach their savings goals

America Saves Week 2021 is scheduled for February 22 – February 26, 2021, and Jewett City Savings Bank is encouraging its community to take a moment to focus on the importance of emergency savings and saving automatically, in an effort to better prepare Americans for the unexpected.

As part of America Saves Week, Jewett City Savings Bank will waive the minimum balance service fee for six months on Statement Savings Accounts and Passbook Savings Accounts open this week, giving consumers time to achieve the minimum balance of $200 by saving just $8 per week during the first six months the account is open. Those opening a new savings account for a minor will receive a free piggy bank. New accounts can be opened at any Jewett City Savings Bank location.

“With so many Americans still reeling from the financial crisis caused by Coronavirus, America Saves Week is a great time to take a look at your finances, recognize where you are currently, where you want to be, and start making a plan to get there— even if it’s just a little bit at a time,” said Kevin Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank.

Since 2007 America Saves Week, coordinated by America Saves and its partners, has been an annual celebration as well as a call to action for everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully. The America Saves pledge is the framework that allows savers to set a goal, and make a plan to achieve better financial stability.
