Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation President Michael Alberts announced that the Foundation has awarded $11,200 in grants to five organizations dedicated to supporting arts and culture in the community.
“The Foundation is thankful to have the opportunity to provide support to the arts and cultural organizations within our communities. They play a huge role in our lives, enhancing and enriching our communities while providing us with ways to express ourselves and connect with one another,” said Alberts.
A $5,000 grant was awarded to the Eastern Connecticut Performing Arts Association to help fund their Broadway Stars on Stage 2023 program. The Foundation granted $3,000 to The RiseUp Group, Inc. for their MLK39 Racial Equality Mural Tour which helped fund the creation of a mural located at the Hale YMCA in Putnam.
A $1,200 grant was awarded to the Gertrude Chandler Warner Boxcar Children Museum and will be used to replace a sign at the recently restored museum in Putnam.
$1,000 grants were awarded to two organizations. The Granite Theatre in Westerly, RI will use its grant to upgrade the faulty audio-visual monitor system for the theater, and Opera New England of Northeastern Connecticut, Inc. will use the awarded grant to fund the Children’s Educational Opera and Symphony in Northeastern Connecticut.
