Kevin Merchant, President and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, has announced that the Bank’s charitable foundation has awarded a total of $5,000 in grants to support four area libraries.

“Jewett City Savings Bank understands how important literacy is to making our communities stronger. We’re proud to provide funding to help enhance the learning experience at local libraries with books, programming, facility improvements, and technology,” said Merchant.

A grant of $2,000 was awarded to the Slater Library and Fanning Annex in Jewett City to purchase award-winning books and book series for young-adults and children. Additionally, three grants of $1,000 each were awarded to: Aldrich Free Public Library in Moosup to help fund exterior painting of the historic library building; the Preston Public Library to purchase an iPad education station; and the Slater Library in Jewett City for annual support.

The Aldrich Free Public Library in Moosup will use funds from a Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation grant to help fund exterior painting of the historic library building.
