Kevin Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, has announced that the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $4,900 in grants to three organizations dedicated to education and youth services.
A grant of $2,900 was provided to the GHS Athletics Field of Dreams Project to help build a new softball complex at Griswold High School. In addition, a $1,000 grant was awarded to Connecticut Storytelling Center in New London, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of storytelling to facilitate learning. The grant will be used to promote a literacy program for pre-school students at Canterbury Elementary School.
Also receiving a $1,000 grant was Safe Futures of New London. Founded in 1976, Safe Futures is dedicated to eliminating violence in southeastern Connecticut. The grant will be used to promote a healthy relationships violence-prevention program at Griswold High School.
