The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has donated a total of $6,000 to support area libraries.

A grant in the amount of $1,500 was awarded to North Woodstock Library Association for electrical upgrades and the installation of a climate control system. Slater Library in Jewett City also received $1,500 to expand its collection of books and audio books.

Aldrich Free Public Library in Moosup received a grant of $1,000 to purchase and install new computers for use by library patrons. Sterling Public Library was awarded $1,000 for in-house educational programs, and Slater Library also received $1,000 in annual support from the Foundation.

“Libraries are the heart of a community,” said Kevin Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank. “ We are always pleased to help them stay vibrant for the benefit and enjoyment of their patrons.”
