Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation grants to help keep you healthy

Ten recent grants from the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation to area nonprofit organizations focus on the health and wellness of area residents.

According to Jewett City Savings Bank President and CEO Kevin Merchant, the 10 Foundation grants totaled $21,500. They ranged from $500 to $5,000, and included the Foundation’s annual support for the Day Kimball Hospital and the Center for Hospice Care Southeast CT, as well as a $2,000 capital campaign installment for the Center for Hospice Care’s new facility and an additional $1,000 in funding for its Special Care Fund.

The Backus Hospital Capital Campaign also received $5,000 from the Foundation, and the American Cancer Society was awarded $2,500 to support the Relay for Life of Eastern CT.

Additional grants awarded by the Foundation included $5,000 to Day Kimball Hospital’s Care in a Heartbeat campaign, $2,500 to United Community and Family Services for diabetes testing supplies, and $1,000 each to Killingly Quiet Corner Regional Lions Club to purchase a new camera for vision testing and to Interfaith Human Services of Putnam for caregiver training and other programs.
