Griswold & Jewett City Snowflake Festival

JCSB MarchersThe Griswold & Jewett City Snowflake Festival will be on Sunday, November 23, 2014. The Snowflake Festival begins at 2:00 p.m. with a parade that starts at the Griswold Public School grounds.  The parade will head down Slater Avenue, turn north on to Main Street, then turn on to Ashland Street and end at Veterans’ Memorial Park.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in the parade and take their seats in the gazebo in the park.  Children will have the chance to visit with Santa, so make sure to bring your camera.

The Childrens’ Decorating Contest will be held in the front parking lot at Jewett City Savings Bank. Children who are 10 years of age or younger and are residents of Griswold or Jewett City may decorate their bike, wagon, or baby carriage and enter the decorating contest.  All contestants must be at the bank parking lot with a parent or guardian to complete a registration form by 1:30 p.m. to be included in the contest judging.  The winner will be announced at the park at the conclusion of the parade and must be present to win.  The children that participate in the decorating contest will join the parade and walk the parade route from the bank to the park.  At the park, contestants will have a priority line to see Santa.

The Childrens’ Decorating Contest has a first, second and third place prize awarded in three age groups. This year’s first place prize winner will receive $50 from the Jewett City Savings Bank!

Jewett City Savings Bank employees will also be in the park with free hot chocolate while it lasts. Hope to see you at the Snowflake Festival this year!
