Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation awards $3,000 to benefit local youth

Jewett City Savings Bank recently awarded a total of $3,000 in grants to three area nonprofit organizations, in support of initiatives designed to support local youth.

The Danielson Rotary Club Trust received $1,000 from the Foundation to purchase tents, table covers, and materials to set up Amber Alert registration equipment at local events. The Danielson Rotary sets up their Amber Alert registration booth annually at the Brooklyn Fair, and other local events, and has registered approximately 4,000 children in the program.

With its Foundation grant of $1,000, the Eastern Connecticut Performing
Arts Association will meet expenses associated with offering four educational classes and provide scholarships for participants with financial need.

In Griswold, Youth and Family Services received $1,000 from the Foundation to provide camperships to children in the Griswold School system whose families are unable to afford the summer camp program.

“We are always pleased to be able to support programs designed around the youth of the communities we serve,” said Kevin C. Merchant, president of the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation.

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation awarded nearly $50,000 to area non-profit organizations this year, said Merchant. In the 10 years since it was established, the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has provided almost $450,000 to support communities served by the Bank.
