Jewett City Savings Bank’s Food Donation Campaign to Return

Kevin C. Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, announced today that the Bank’s “trade a token” campaign would be returning this autumn.

The decision follows the success of last year’s campaign, which saw the Bank raise $1,000 for five local food pantries.

Starting September 23rd the Bank will donate $1 (up to $1,000 total) to a local food pantry for each special token returned to one of the Bank’s branches by November 16th. The “coupon style” tokens will be featured in local newspaper ads, special mailings and online at jcsbank.com and facebook.com/jcsbank.

Helping contribute to the total will be an additional $1 commitment for each new “like” the Bank receives on its Facebook Page during the campaign, a feature that was also part of last year’s event.

The Bank and its Foundation have provided over $60,000 in funding to local food pantries in recent years and more than $49,000 to area non-profit organizations in 2012 alone, according to Merchant. In the nine years since its establishment, the Foundation has provided nearly $400,000 in support of local organizations and initiatives in the communities served by the bank.
