Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation now accepting 2013 grant applications

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation is now accepting 2013 grant applications from local 501(c)(3) and 170(c)(1) organizations, and also from other qualified non-profits whose work benefits the population of those communities where Jewett City Savings Bank has a major presence.

Guidelines and grant applications are available online and at all offices of Jewett City Savings Bank. Completed applications must be received no later than August 31, 2013. Funding for approved projects will be made by December 31, 2013.

Financial support will be offered for existing program support, general support, special projects, and/or start-up endeavors covering a variety of issues impacting the community. The Foundation does not provide funding for individuals, sports, individual schools or religious groups. The maximum grant amount is $5,000, determined by demonstrated needs and existing resources.

In 2012, Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation grant funding reached nearly $50,000. A total of 40 area non-profit civic and charitable groups benefited, including local food pantries, hospitals, fire and ambulance companies, and a number of programs advancing education, health, and the arts.

Since its founding in 2003, the Foundation has awarded nearly $400,000 in support of local organizations and initiatives.

“The goals of the Foundation reflect those of the Bank,” said Kevin C. Merchant, president and CEO. “As a hometown bank, we are committed to the well-being of the communities we serve.”
