Muccio joins Jewett City Savings Bank; Simmons retires

Kevin C. Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, announced today that Ernest Muccio has joined the Bank as vice president and credit administrator, replacing Joseph A. Simmons, Jr., who recently retired after more than 29 years with the Bank.

Muccio has 22 years of banking experience, most recently as a commercial credit officer at Newport Federal Savings Bank. Previous to that he was manager of residential and commercial lending at Westerly Savings Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College and attended the New England School of Banking at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. He is also a volunteer firefighter with the Westerly Fire Department. He resides in Westerly, RI with his wife Jerilyn and their three children.

Simmons earned a degree in business administration from Stonehill College in North Easton, MA in 1970 and began his banking career in 1971 with New Britain Savings Bank. After spending nearly a decade with the Savings Institute Bank & Trust, he joined Jewett City Savings Bank in 1983 as its senior credit officer. Overall, Simmons’ career spanned 41 years. He resides in Amston with his wife Beverly and is a member of Moose Lodge #1631 and American Legion Post #95.
