After 11 years doing business in the same location on the Plainfield-Danielson town line, Doug Blumenthal of Townline Auto Sales had big plans. With a growing customer list and an expanding inventory of cars Doug needed more space. He also needed a banking partner willing and able to help him realize his dream of building a big, new facility. That’s when he called Jewett City Savings Bank. “When I approached them with my plan, the people at Jewett City Savings showed a huge interest in working with me,” Doug recalls. “They made it clear they wanted to help a local business grow.” They also proposed an innovative financing solution: the Small Business Administration’s 504 Loan Program. This program provides SBA-guaranteed, long-term financing that promotes community economic development. Of course, as with any SBA program, there is a bit more paperwork involved than with a typical bank loan.
Now, with his new 17,500-square-foot building nearing completion, Doug is looking to the future and he isn’t done thinking big. “We’ll be expanding our inventory of quality used cars and I’m even exploring the possibility of a new car franchise,” he says. “Townline Auto has grown because of the trust customers have in us. And I feel the same way about Jewett City Savings Bank.” Need some help fueling your business growth?
