“My wife and I decided to take the leap and go into business for ourselves,” Ed says, recalling the day last year they became the owners of B’s West Side Package Store in Brooklyn. “One of the first decisions we made was to work with Jewett City Savings Bank.” Ed says it was a good business decision.

“The bank has been super. They’ve been extremely supportive and unbelievably helpful,” Ed says, reserving special praise for Business Banker Elle Rice. “We just clicked with Elle. She’s terrific.”

Soon, Ed and his wife found themselves making another critical decision – to move their new business to a better location. And you won’t believe where.

“We found the perfect location on Route 6 in Brooklyn, right next door to Jewett City Savings Bank,” he says, noting that the land was owned by the bank. “When we explained our plan to build a larger location at the site, the bank was totally supportive. They sold us the property and financed our construction project. It just worked out perfectly.”

As the final touches are being made to their new, larger store on Route 6, called B’s Discount Wine & Spirits, Ed says he’s excited about the prospects.

“I think this new store will be good for everyone; good for us, for the bank; and for the town of Brooklyn,” Ed says. “Jewett City Savings Bank has been behind us all the way. We couldn’t have done it without them. And now they’re next door, which will make doing our banking even more convenient!”
